The biggest winter contests of Russia are over. During the whole week from 1 to 7 of February the sportsmen were racing, freestylers were trying to jump with almost total lack of wind, the stuff of “Zvezdny" holiday hotel were going nuts of their sportsmen guests’ behaviour, and waiters in “Zhara” bar hardly managed to cook business lunches and present bills.
Everything’s over. All the protests have been examined, all the certificates have been signed. Competitors depart to different corners of our country in the firm belief that they will return to “Zhigulevskoe More” not once.
Maxim Shaidakov, Yaroslavl, 3 placement in course race, skis: Togliatti’s hospitality amazes, as usual. It was a real festival, we were glad to meet all our friends there. I am sure to come next time. There was a huge number of participants, disco, music, contests. Well, there were also a lot of protests. For some reason it turned out that we race not by those written rules, the referees, who know racing rules, know too much to umpire our kite contests. So, we were refereed according to slightly different rules than ours. That’ why there was a lot of incorrect refereeing, to our mind.
Ludmila Polyakova, Novosibirsk, 1 placement. I dreamed of a kite and was presented with a board sleeve, that’s also not so bad. I’m very content with the contests, but not absolutely, of course. I’d rather be the first in both disciplines. Good contests, Aleksey Razhev did well, I love him very mush, he did his best in organizing, as usual. This event was the most well organized I’ve ever been. My coolness! I’ll come to “ZhigMore” one more time, and one more, and more. I really like it there. I’d be the first any longer.
Dmitry Nikulichev, Petrozavodsk, 2 placement in course race, skis: I was glad to meet all the riders. Of course, many of them didn’t come. It was nice to talk to all of them, to race with them. “Zhigmore” is another round of progress. Communication and weather were perfect. The sun was shining all racing days long. The prizes are perfect, distances were good, the wind was also ok – neither strong nor weak, sufficient enough for normal racing. |
